Jahnnalee & The Furry Kiddos
Why Wait Productions has earned critical acclaim, with all their films receiving awards and nominations—31 in total! Their work has been featured on Animal Planet, Comcast, local cable stations, film festivals, and more.
Jahnnalee and Gizmo attended film school together in Los Angeles, California. Yes, Gizmo went to every class—and honestly,
he should’ve been pawarded a diploma! 🎓
Why Wait Productions was born in Los Angeles, CA, out of Jahnnalee’s determination to overcome industry roadblocks. Unable to secure an acting agent without a reel—and unable to build a reel without roles—she decided to take matters into her own hands by creating original material. Writing, directing, producing, editing, and starring in her own projects, she initially aimed to compile a reel to attract an agent.
However, as people began to see her work, they encouraged her to submit her films to festivals instead. Taking their advice, she entered her projects into film festivals and quickly gained recognition, winning awards for both her acting and filmmaking.
This experience taught Jahnnalee the power of taking action rather than waiting for people to give her an opportunity.
She embraced the ethos:
WHY WAIT for opportunities when you can create them yourself!
Why Wait Productions embodies the spirit of being a doer, not just a dreamer. With the internet providing endless possibilities for creators, the company encourages others to take control of their own career paths. Never give up, keep trying, and create your own opportunities—because you hold the power to make it happen!
While Jahnnalee values the lessons she’s learned from formal training, her favorite approach is learning by doing. She believes in diving in and creating, even if it means failing along the way. For her, failure is just another step toward success—each project that doesn’t work narrows the path to discovering what will.
Comedy duo Jahnnalee and Gizmo the Chihuahua have been creating films together since 2012. From writing, directing, and acting to producing and editing, all aspects of the projects are led by Jahnnalee, with Gizmo starring in every production. In 2021, Starleena, a long-haired Chihuahua, joined the team, followed by a group of charismatic kitty cats. This expanded cast led to the rebranding as
Jahnnalee & The Furry Kiddos.
Jahnnalee & Gizmo’s feel-good comedy channel has delighted audiences, amassing millions of views on social media. With the addition of Starleena and their four feline co-stars—Tuxley, Snookums, Cashmere, and Fluffy—the team continues to grow, sharing laughter and pawsitivity during tough times. The first short film ever created by Why Wait Productions in 2012 was a parody of the hit TV show Toddlers & Tiaras. Puppies & Tiaras dives into the world of puppy pageantry, where the competition is ruff, but it’s the humans who are the real bitches. Jahnnalee couldn't afford lights for the 19-minute short film so she made the director call to shoot everything during magic hour. After releasing Puppies & Tiaras on YouTube it got the attention of Next Millennium Productions, a company out of New York, to showcase clips from the comedy short film on Animal Planet.
Director, Writer, Producer, & Editor: Jahnnalee
Lead Actors: Jahnnalee & Gizmo the Chihuahua
Jahnnalee directed 22 human actors, 8 dog actors, had 6 crew members & filmed in 5 days only during magic hour which is less than 5 hours of actual shooting time
Clips from Puppies & Tiaras were in A Year in Pup Culture which aired on Animal Planet. This hour-long episode showcased different adorable pups throughout the year in 2012. Gizmo was excited to see his furry face on the television screen!
Dogster also wrote an article on Puppies & Tiaras which is the longest-running print publication for dog lovers, known for its love, care, humor, and knowledge of all things canine.
